Position Overview:

Primary Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, regulating, and enforcing compliance with statutory requirements related to state and federally mandated title and registration laws.

Key duties include:

  • Assisting citizens with licensing, titling, and processing motor vehicle documentation.
  • Collecting statutory motor vehicle revenues, including sales and use taxes.
  • Verifying legal documents for adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with Department of Revenue rules and Gilpin County policies.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Performing complex administrative tasks to support the Motor Vehicle Division.
  • Addressing public inquiries, resolving issues, and facilitating rightful motor vehicle transactions.
  • Authenticating title documents and ensuring their legal compliance.
  • Assessing fees and filing requirements, and confirming revenue due.
  • Processing various off-counter tasks, including dealer and financial institution submissions.
Additional Responsibilities:

The Deputy Clerk also represents the Department of Revenue and Gilpin County by:

  • Issuing license plates and validation tabs.
  • Reviewing reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Processing complex title transactions and ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Preparing correspondence for dealers, taxpayers, and county officials.
  • Training new employees as needed.
Work Environment:

The work environment is characterized by moderate noise levels and is generally scheduled Monday through Friday, with potential additional hours during elections.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college coursework in business or public administration preferred. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a County Motor Vehicle Division is required.
