Job Summary

The Department of Developmental Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Services Manager III to oversee the Early Childhood and Transitions Policy Support Branch in the Children, Adolescents and Young Adult Services Division (CAYAS). This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the programs, policies, and activities of the DDS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program policies and provide programmatic oversight of programs for children who are transitioning from Early Start services to Special Education services under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Oversee the development and implementation of special projects, including the Consumer Electronic Records Management System (CERMS) project.
  • Manage and analyze data systems and outcomes for all CAYAS programs.
  • Collaborate with executive staff and advise on administrative and technical matters.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with representatives of all levels of government, the public, community partners, and the Legislative and Executive Branches.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the programs, policies, and activities of the DDS, including state-operated facilities and programs and RCs.
  • Knowledge of the Lanterman Act, California Early Intervention Services Act, and federal IDEA.
  • Ability to plan, organize, oversee multiple and complex functional work areas.
  • Ability to collaborate with executive staff and advise on administrative and technical matters.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with representatives of all levels of government, the public, community partners, and the Legislative and Executive Branches.
