Position Overview:

In the role of Sales Team Leader, you will oversee and guide the sales force to drive revenue and volume enhancements by delivering unique consultative services and strategic value to our clientele.

The Sales Team Leader is tasked with optimizing the efficiency of the sales personnel and ensuring that all team members prioritize customer satisfaction while leveraging extensive market knowledge of corrugated packaging, technical expertise, and consumer insights.

This position involves training and mentoring sales staff, collaborating with the Business Unit Sales Manager to set objectives, direction, and standards for customer interactions within the business unit, and providing ongoing support to customers, production facilities, sales representatives, and management.


Your Impact at WestRock:
Guide the sales team to surpass volume and profit targets through the acquisition of new accounts, expansion within existing accounts, and initiatives aimed at improving margins.

Formulate the sales strategy for the business unit in collaboration with the Business Unit Sales Manager to clearly define the strategic objectives and direction of the unit.

Establish processes, develop personnel, provide training, and create tools to execute the business unit strategy, aligning activities and key performance indicators with strategic goals and objectives.

Lead the sales team in cultivating and sustaining a robust prospect pipeline to achieve volume growth targets and drive outcomes.

Direct the sales team in identifying, securing, developing, and expanding strategic accounts.

Craft pricing and sales strategies for each target account in conjunction with Sales Representatives and Pre-Pricing Specialists by analyzing data to ensure that pricing recommendations align with the business unit's requirements, profitability objectives, and production capabilities.

Negotiate significant customer contracts and assist in the creation of formal agreements in partnership with Sales Representatives, Management, and Legal.

Oversee the sales pipeline through regular sales meetings and cadence calls with Sales Representatives.

Support the development of the annual budget and monthly forecasts.

Conduct monthly performance review sessions with direct reports to evaluate performance, identify and eliminate obstacles, and explore growth and development opportunities.

Mentor and train the sales team to enhance their knowledge of the industry, relationship-building skills, systems, tools, and processes.

Onboard, train, and coach new team members to ensure they quickly become productive and effective.

Retain top talent and keep them motivated, engaged, and continuously enhancing their capabilities.

Qualifications for Success:
High School diploma or G.E.D., Bachelor's degree preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably in the manufacturing or corrugated industry; 5 years of sales leadership experience is preferred.

Documented history of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

Proven leadership and decision-making abilities to achieve goals and objectives.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing order entry systems, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and reporting systems.
