About the Position

The Department of Instrumental Studies at the University of North Texas is seeking qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool. This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach applied performance lessons and/or ensemble performance in the areas of strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, early music, and instrument repair.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction to students, promoting academic excellence and student success.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with department faculty to ensure curriculum alignment and program effectiveness.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and other activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in music or a closely related field.
  • Professional experience may be accepted in place of an earned degree.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience.
  • Experience in teaching instrumental performance with reference to the standards of performance of the UNT Instrumental Studies program.

Working Conditions

  • Varying work schedule based on assignment.
  • No driving of university vehicles required.
  • This is a security-sensitive position.
