Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in music and professional experience in playing jazz at a high level. Expertise in teaching jazz performance is essential, with a focus on applied lessons in jazz guitar, jazz piano, or classes in jazz improvisation or lab band instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach applied lessons in jazz guitar, jazz piano, or classes in jazz improvisation or lab band instruction
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of students
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive music education program

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in music
  • Professional experience in playing jazz at a high level
  • Expertise in teaching jazz performance
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching jazz performance with reference to the standards of performance of the UNT Jazz Studies Program
