Child Life Specialist PRN

As a Child Life Specialist PRN at Methodist Children's Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic activities and psychosocial care to pediatric and adolescent patients and families. Your expertise will help them cope with the stress and anxiety of healthcare experiences, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' developmental levels, interests, and capabilities to create personalized play interaction plans.
- Develop and implement individualized programs of activities and behavioral strategies to promote understanding and prepare patients for healthcare experiences.
- Provide procedural, emotional, and bereavement support to patients and families, assessing their need for outpatient psychosocial care and recommending referrals as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to integrate therapeutic intervention with overall patient care and treatment.
- Participate in patient discharge planning and serve as a clinical resource to pediatric staff, parents, volunteers, students, and other hospital staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Completion of a Child Life internship from an accredited program.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist preferred.
- Must obtain Certification by the Child Life Council within 18 months of hire date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 120 days of hire.
