The Maintenance Area Manager is a pivotal leadership position focused on cultivating fully engaged and skilled teams that achieve results aligned with performance objectives in a safe and efficient manner. This role oversees the Reliability and Maintenance organization at the Towanda Site and provides strategic direction to Site Maintenance First Line Managers, Reliability Engineers, Continuous Improvement Consultants, Value-Added Process Engineers, and their teams. Responsibilities include developing and executing the facility maintenance strategy and implementing Maintenance Work Management Processes with an emphasis on Continuous Improvement.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering results in Safety, Reliability, and Maintenance cost optimization.
  • Encouraging commitment to Operational Excellence by engaging team members to identify improvement opportunities, eliminate waste, and remove obstacles; effectively utilizing lean and digital tools.
  • Recruiting, retaining, and developing talent to meet current and future needs; fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
  • Coaching and providing performance feedback to team members to enhance capabilities, align expectations, and improve overall team effectiveness; using recognition to encourage desired behaviors and results.
  • Collaborating with leaders to stay informed about business strategies and needs; adapting as necessary to deliver business value.
  • Organizing resources to drive performance; completing administrative tasks efficiently and on time.
  • Overseeing reliability and maintenance representatives for small capital projects and maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding site/unit/area products, customer requirements, and expectations.
  • Utilizing business knowledge and cost modeling tools to assess needs and opportunities.
  • Leading area Operational Discipline; optimizing work process interfaces within the business, area, and/or site; analyzing and auditing work process results and compliance.
  • Resolving both simple and complex technical challenges while balancing speed, risk, and reward.
  • Creating an accountable environment for meeting agreed-upon expectations.
  • Employing management systems to monitor organizational performance against goals.
  • Inspiring the organization by clarifying the broader purpose and significance of the work.
Capabilities Required for this Role (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Familiarity with relevant standards, protocols, and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Functional knowledge of Maintenance Scheduling software, specifically SAP.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence managers, peers, and the maintenance team.
  • Effective risk management and mitigation abilities.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, planning, and organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including prioritization, scheduling, and optimizing workforce skills and resources.
  • Root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in Safety, Quality & Environmental Auditing.
  • Leadership skills in coaching and mentoring.
  • Understanding of Maintenance Work Management Processes.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Maintenance and/or Reliability is required.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process) is preferred.
  • Experience in Line of Business is preferred.
  • Certification as a Six Sigma/Lean Practitioner is preferred.
