POSITION SUMMARY: The Flowback Operations Specialist is chiefly accountable for the setup of locations, overseeing drill-out activities, providing frac monitoring and support, executing well testing protocols, and managing reporting procedures. The individual will also guarantee quality assurance and safety during all operational phases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adheres to all Oil States International Safety and Operational Policies and Procedures, along with all DOT regulations. Must comprehend and follow all safety guidelines and company protocols.
  • Must comply with all Customer Safety policies and procedures while present at customer job sites.
  • Installs, repairs, removes, and maintains various company tools and equipment, demonstrating proficiency within a six-month timeframe.
  • Monitors well fluids and gases, providing accurate reporting.
  • Operates Flowback equipment including Choke Manifolds, Separators, Flow Back tanks, and Bulk Oilfield tanks.
  • Assesses the production capacity of a well, anticipates production changes over time, identifies reservoir drive mechanisms, captures drilled-out plug fragments, cleans up frac fluids and sand, and collects fluid and gas samples to monitor production variations and evaluate well performance.
  • Conducts regular inspections of company equipment for preventative maintenance. Ensures proper operation, maintenance, and documentation of repairs or damages to company equipment in a timely manner.
  • Completes all required paperwork daily, including but not limited to Kronos timesheets, iScout, DVIR, JSA, Rig-Up & Rig-Down Sheets, Job Checklists, Loadout Forms, Safety Observation Cards, and DOT Inspections.
  • Engages in shop/yard activities, including testing, repairing, cleaning, painting, and maintaining equipment and parts as necessary.
  • With assistance from other operators and personnel, unloads and assembles equipment for use, sets up service units, and aids in rigging up/down as required.
  • Performs maintenance and reporting on all company vehicles and/or company-owned and rental equipment.
  • May supervise job site services and provide guidance to onsite labor when necessary.
  • Assists in the shop and makes deliveries when available.
  • Participates in pre-job safety meetings, including the review of the job safety analysis (JSA) process.
  • Maintains open communication with the District Manager and various customers before, during, and after job completion.
  • Ensures management is kept informed of area activities and attends meetings as required.
  • Drives for company business daily in a safe manner, adhering to all company and government regulations, between districts and off-site locations at scheduled times.
  • Must possess certifications to operate forklifts, telehandlers, man lifts, and other necessary equipment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZED DUTIES BY LEVEL:

Level I (6 months minimum or cumulative 1 year previous experience):
  • Learn the functions and mechanics of equipment used in multiple services provided in Well Testing, including safety systems, pumps, valves, rigging mechanisms, pressure testing equipment, and more.
  • Learn to accurately collect, measure, and record relevant data.
  • Learn to perform testing as required by customers, including collecting gas samples and other necessary measurements.
  • Learn to disassemble and reassemble various types of valves.
  • Learn to effectively communicate well performance through reporting.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning parts on company equipment.
  • Learn to maintain equipment repair logs.
  • Learn SOP processes and work instructions for Well Testing services.
  • Assist in all drillout operations.
Level II (12 months minimum or cumulative 1-2 years' previous experience):
  • Operate equipment used in Well Testing services with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to accurately collect, measure, and record applicable data.
  • Must be able to perform required testing for customers.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate well performance through reporting.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning parts as needed.
  • Must maintain equipment repair logs.
  • Knowledgeable on SOP processes for Well Testing services.
  • Train and mentor Level I Flowback Operators.
  • Learn to calculate fluid/gas rates and ratios.
  • Assist in drillout operations and begin leading night operations.
Level III (18 months minimum or cumulative 2-4 years' previous experience):
  • Operate equipment used in Well Testing services without direct supervision.
  • Proficient in performing required testing.
  • Direct communication with managers and personnel on job progress.
  • Document necessary repairs and maintenance on equipment.
  • Proficient on SOP processes for Well Testing services.
  • Train and mentor Level I & II Flowback Operators.
  • Assist during the completion of the well.
  • Begin leading day operations.
Level IV (18 months minimum or cumulative 5+ years' previous experience):
  • Operate equipment used in Well Testing services with advanced proficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and perform required testing.
  • Document repairs and maintenance on equipment.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise Level I, II & III Flowback Operators.
  • Coordinate all equipment and crew during rig-up/rig-down.
  • Maintain oversight of all phases of well testing services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and travel as required.
  • Ability to think quickly in emergency situations.
  • Basic math and algebra skills.
  • Mechanical abilities and familiarity with tools and equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to travel extensively and be on call.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record.
  • Must pass pre- and post-employment drug and alcohol tests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to frequently lift and move materials up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • Requires pushing and pulling, bending, standing, kneeling, carrying, sitting, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Requires appropriate PPE to be worn.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures.
