OVERVIEW:
The Operations Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring that high-quality transportation services are effectively delivered to our clientele. This position encompasses both fieldwork and administrative responsibilities, as directed by the General Manager and Safety Manager. The individual in this role is tasked with overseeing the safe and efficient provision of transit services through the management of Bus Operators. Responsibilities include field supervision, radio communication, training, and dispatch operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guarantee that exceptional service is rendered to clients and provide direct assistance and information to both customers and management staff.
- Conduct dispatch operations, manage communications, and allocate drivers to maximize the use of resources.
- Dispatch replacement vehicles for those involved in incidents and coordinate operators for special services.
- Guide and train bus operators on safety protocols, service standards, and scheduling adherence.
- Ensure compliance with schedules and that all routes are adequately staffed with the appropriate vehicles and personnel.
- Utilize company operating systems to monitor, dispatch, and enhance on-street service delivery.
- Oversee compliance with State and Federal regulations, company policies, and collective agreements.
- Supervise and assist in special promotions, projects, and events affecting service delivery.
- Maintain a safe operational environment.
- Issue disciplinary actions in a timely manner in accordance with established policies.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Training, and Safety on staffing and development matters.
- Investigate incidents, unusual events, and complaints, preparing necessary reports.
- Generate accurate operational records for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Manage daily staffing needs, including calling in operators and utilizing supervisors for coverage.
- Ensure minimum revenue hours are met while efficiently managing overtime.
- Confine responsibilities to operational duties unless otherwise authorized by senior management.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure optimal bus allocation for service requirements.
- Supervise operational staff assigned to the Control Center, Field Operations, or both.
- Perform daily dispatch services from various locations.
- Directly oversee bus operators and support staff, managing work assignments, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure departmental efficiency.

- High school diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience or training; college coursework is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos; proficient in writing simple correspondence.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software is preferred; basic computer skills are necessary.
- Must possess a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with Passenger endorsement and maintain DOT physical examination requirements.
- Two years of relevant experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to read maps and knowledge of the service area.
- Flexibility to work varied hours.
- Customer service-oriented with a willingness to assist passengers.
- Completion of the Transdev employment application is required.
- Must provide a verifiable employment history for the past 10 years.
- Must be able to operate company vehicles without DOT prohibited adaptations.
- Completion of a background release form is necessary.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical examination by a company-designated physician.
