Cafeteria Substitute Job Description

Kountze High School is seeking a reliable and skilled Cafeteria Substitute to join our team. As a Cafeteria Substitute, you will be responsible for preparing and serving quality food to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve food according to a planned menu and recipes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area and handle food items and supplies safely.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety in the kitchen.
  • Handle and record cashier functions accurately and help record food requisitions and order necessary supplies.
Requirements:
  • Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures.
  • Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
Working Conditions:

The Cafeteria Substitute will work in a commercial kitchen environment with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, extreme humidity, noise, vibration, microwaves, biological hazards, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.

The ideal candidate will be able to work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress, and work with hands in water and around machinery with moving parts.

This is a substitute position, on an as-needed basis, and does not constitute an offer of full-time employment. Starting pay for a Cafeteria Substitute is $9.10 per hour.
