Job Summary

The Nurse Consultant III (Specialist) is a key member of the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division (MCAH) team, responsible for providing technical assistance and consultation to local health departments to monitor quality improvement in programs. This role requires a strong understanding of public health principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to local health departments to monitor quality improvement in programs.
  • Lead a workgroup toward outcome improvement for underserved/under-resourced populations, including but not limited to, high-risk populations with specific emphasis on African American women and infants.
  • Assist with organizing and providing resource support for trainings to state and local program staff on public health performance monitoring and continuous quality improvement, and effective program implementation.
  • Provide guidance and support to a statewide team of nurses implementing the Black Infant Health model in jurisdictions across the state.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in nursing or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in public health, with a focus on maternal and child health.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of public health principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including African American women and infants.
  • Knowledge of the Black Infant Health model and its implementation in jurisdictions across the state.
  • Ability to develop and implement program standards to promote optimal program outcomes.
  • Ability to monitor and track birth outcomes and provide support services to address health inequities in underserved and under-resourced communities.
