Job Description

In the role of Child and Family Advocate, you will be responsible for building trusting relationships with youth in care and working to locate permanent resource families for them. You will maintain a caseload of at least 12 active youth and engage in child-centered recruitment on their behalf. This includes conducting in-depth reviews of existing case records, diligent searches of significant past and present relationships with adults familiar to the youth, and assessing the youth's readiness for adoption or guardianship.

Responsibilities:
  • Build trusting relationships with youth in care and work to locate permanent resource families for them
  • Maintain a caseload of at least 12 active youth and engage in child-centered recruitment on their behalf
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of existing case records and diligent searches of significant past and present relationships with adults familiar to the youth
  • Assess the youth's readiness for adoption or guardianship and help prepare both the youth and the identified family for this transition

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field, as well as at least one year of experience in serving children and/or families. They will also possess excellent communication skills, knowledge of child development stages and family dynamics, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
