The
Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing maintenance and repair tasks on intricate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems across a range of rental and client equipment and tools, utilizing a significant degree of independent judgment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and reassembles machine components according to manufacturer specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized equipment
  • Reconditions, repairs, and maintains machinery and components
  • Fosters positive customer relations and communicates client needs to management
  • Plans and manages repair job costs
  • Processes parts orders and identifies items for return
  • Maintains company tools and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
  • Adheres to safety protocols and complies with all company policies and standards
  • May work overtime based on workload and customer requirements
  • Enhances job knowledge through participation in training opportunities
  • Performs additional duties as required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of dirt-engaging machinery, aerial, and lifting equipment
  • Familiarity with machines and tools, including their design, application, repair, and upkeep
  • Quality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections to assess quality or performance
  • Operational control skills - managing equipment or system operations
  • Equipment selection skills - determining necessary tools and equipment for tasks
  • Ability to quickly and accurately adjust machine or vehicle controls
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical repair equipment
  • Capability to perform precise movements with hands to manipulate small objects
  • Ability to comprehend written information and ideas
  • Ability to listen and understand spoken information and ideas

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Over three years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent, or trade school diploma
  • Valid driver's license required

Supervisory Duties:

  • No supervisory responsibilities

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel to client sites may be necessary

Physical Demands:

  • Must be capable of moving objects and using abdominal and lower back muscles for extended periods
  • Frequently lifts materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Requires constant movement and dexterity; good coordination and stamina are essential
  • Ability to ascend and descend using both hands and feet, including climbing ladders
  • Must safely maneuver and work beneath equipment
  • Required to respond to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may face outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise levels may be high at times
  • Exposure to small amounts of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and rapidly rotating equipment
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and elevated areas
