Position Summary
We are seeking a meticulous financial record keeper who will work closely with our internal team and external accounting professionals, concentrating on daily financial operations. This role is essential for documenting and processing various financial transactions, entering data into spreadsheets and accounting software, compiling financial reports, organizing bank statements, identifying discrepancies in financial records, and investigating potential reasons for variances between expected and actual account balances. Additionally, this position may involve basic administrative tasks for the accounting team and providing support to other team members as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Documenting details of financial transactions and overseeing the transaction process.
- Preparing and submitting financial documentation.
- Managing accounts payable and receivable.
- Verifying the accuracy of accounting data.
- Reconciling company financial accounts.
- Processing payroll and maintaining payroll records.
- Assisting with tax obligations and submissions.
- Collaborating with external financial accountants as required.
Board and External Relations
- Act as the primary liaison between the Armory and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Serve as the main contact for the Chief Executive Officer and the Board Treasurer.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Capability to communicate complex data clearly.
- Exceptional organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in prioritizing tasks.
- Customer service orientation.
- Excellent data entry proficiency.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting.
- Associate degree in Accounting or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Familiarity with web-based POS/CRM/LMS platforms such as CANVAS and SQUARE.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- CPA or Certified Bookkeeper designation preferred.
- Experience in educational or non-profit sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
Full-Time:
- Salary range: $55,000 to $70,000 based on experience.
- Health, Dental, and Vision insurance benefits.
- Company match in 401(k) plan upon eligibility.
- Paid vacation accrued during the first year, with increases over time.
Part-Time:
- Hourly rate: $20-25.
- 30-35 hours per week.
- Minimum of 3 days a week required.
