Job Summary

As a Technical Textile Specialist at Maharam, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our textile products. This position requires a strong understanding of the textile manufacturing process, from fiber to finished fabric. You will work closely with internal manufacturing plants, customer service, purchasing, sales coordinators, and sales representatives to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and maintain fabric physical testing to meet requirements of KnollTextiles and ACT (Association of Contract Textiles)
  • Conduct fabric inspections for new fabrics in development
  • Make independent decisions about color & dye lots, finishes, defects & characteristics and rejection process
  • Maintain color standards in conjunction with mill
  • Investigate and help resolve all claims and returns from internal and external customers, process chargebacks to mills
  • Assist and lend textile guidance to Quality Assurance Representative during fabric inspections
  • Perform textile training for Sales Representatives as needed
  • Collaborate with Design team
  • Manage application testing and approval database
  • Initiate and manage ECN's (electronic change notice)

Requirements
  • High School Diploma required, BS/BA preferred, Textiles degree a plus
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a technical textile discipline
  • Strong understanding of the textile manufacturing process from fiber to finished fabric
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment to coordinate materials, textiles & production groups to meet customer requirements
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
