Accounting Manager for Nonprofit Organization

Job Summary:

Pace is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Controller, overseeing staff, contracts, and becoming part of the accounting team. This is a great opportunity for those looking to enter the non-profit sector or continue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Controller in managing the general accounting functions
Develop accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction
Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting process ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization
Provide financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation; collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial information; advising departments of the collection and analysis of data
Lead and direct the work of others
Maintain sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations
Responsible for monthly reports to assure compliance with Federal, State and contractual funding source regulations
Verify and post all transactions that are properly documented in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university or higher
7+ years of experience in fund accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a must
Knowledge of principles published in Government Accounting manuals and familiarity with audit and reporting requirements for Federal, State, and local grants
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must
Work accurately with close attention to detail
Experience with non-profits and MIP Fund/SAGE Accounting software is highly desirable
Prior supervisor experience is required
Designation of CPA preferred

Special Requirements:

Must have valid Driver's License and adequate auto insurance
COVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately
