Hospital Laboratory Technician II

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Surgical Pathology, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor 2, you will be responsible for picking up specimens, logging them in, loading processors, sorting multiple specimens, and organizing supplies. You will also print labels and worksheets, wash plastic supplies, glassware, and metal molds for blocks. Additionally, you will assist with equipment maintenance, inventory control, filing, and answering phones. Your expertise will be essential in processing cytology specimens, including GYN, Non-GYN, FNA, or Histology samples, and maintaining stainers. You may also assist with transcription or other office tasks as needed. This is a unique opportunity to join the University of California, Irvine's clinical enterprise and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up specimens and log them in
- Load processors and sort multiple specimens
- Organize supplies and maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Print labels and worksheets

- Assist with equipment maintenance and inventory control
- File and answer phones
Requirements:
- Two years of applicable experience
- Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical computer software systems
