Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) guarantees and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care while coordinating all functions within the unit/department during the designated shift. Collaborating with other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures, serves as a resource for staff, and exemplifies a commitment to the organization's vision, mission, and values to support an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Engages in ongoing assessments of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other management team members.
- Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a teamwork environment that promotes improved outcomes and service.
- Champions a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
- Supports facility efforts to enhance engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly rounds.
- Provides recommendations for interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements actions related to training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions to ensure a competitive organization.
- Assists with staff scheduling and manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Oversees proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Current Compact or Texas RN License; Associate Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Compact or Texas RN License; ACLS and PALS certifications required, must be renewed prior to expiration; Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) preferred.
- Experience: One year of clinical experience in the OR is required; one year of specialty coordinator experience is preferred.
- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work long and irregular hours with frequent interruptions; critical thinking ability; knowledge of body substance isolation; effective communication skills; leadership abilities; and proficiency in computer-based scheduling.
