Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team at Ursa Major. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in defining success and driving the development of our propulsion systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in verifying that our systems meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Management: Collaborate with program leads to define, validate, and maintain requirements for our propulsion systems.
  • System-Level Qualification Planning: Develop and execute system-level qualification plans for Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer needs.
  • Requirement Verification: Track and verify requirement status throughout product development and qualification, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Test and Analysis Planning: Review and assist in the development of test and analysis plans and reports to confirm that requirements are met.
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis: Develop Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Age-Sensitive Items Analysis (ASIA), and other system documents for SRM programs.
  • System-Level Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate system-level risks, owning and carrying to closure all system-level risks.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering: Develop Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of SRM systems, ensuring accurate representation of system behavior and performance.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with management and customers on requirement compliance at program reviews, providing clear and concise updates on system status.
  • Tool Development and Management: Create and manage system engineering tools and processes, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
  • Technical Guidance and Mentoring: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Systems Engineering associates, advancing their proficiency and expertise.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field).
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience applying aerospace systems engineering processes, including design reviews, requirements validation and verification, failure and risk assessments.
  • Skills: Demonstrated organization skills, commitment to valuing diversity, and ability to earn trust and maintain positive relationships.
Desired Qualifications
  • Requirements Management Tools: Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering: Experience with MBSE and Cameo.
  • Government and DoD Contracts: Familiarity with government and DoD contracts and specifications.
  • Secret Clearance: Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • SRM or Propulsion System Experience: Experience with SRM or other propulsion system design, development, or test.
