FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Physicians are dedicated to providing comprehensive care to patients, addressing a wide range of health concerns from chronic conditions to preventive health strategies. Regardless of their specialty, physicians are united in their mission to diagnose and treat various medical issues. This involves conducting physical examinations, gathering medical histories, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess an M.D. from a recognized medical institution, along with successful completion of residency training at an accredited healthcare facility.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION: A valid M.D. or D.O. license from the State of North Carolina is required. Board certification in primary care or a related specialty is necessary, as well as certification in BCLS and ACLS if applicable. Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) for prescription authority is mandatory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with the primary healthcare team to deliver essential medical services to patients in accordance with established standards for Internal Medicine.
  2. Order and evaluate laboratory and radiology tests, referring patients to specialists as needed.
  3. Analyze medical reports, test outcomes, and patient histories to accurately diagnose conditions and recommend treatment options.
  4. Prescribe medications and treatment plans to address documented medical issues.
  5. Discuss potential side effects of prescribed treatments with patients, ensuring all allergy information is current.
  6. Advise patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications that may enhance their health or assist in managing their medical conditions.
  7. Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, while actively participating in quality improvement initiatives and adhering to safety and infection control standards.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all applicable health information privacy regulations.
  9. Document comprehensive, timely, and clear medical records.

  1. Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  3. Proficient in identifying potential health issues before they escalate.
  4. Ability to synthesize information to draw logical conclusions.
  5. Capable of applying general principles to specific medical scenarios.
  6. Highly organized with a methodical approach to patient care.
  7. Experience in providing primary care and diagnostic services within a clinical environment.
  8. Proficient in prescribing appropriate medications and treatment regimens.
  9. Experience collaborating with specialists to assess and diagnose patient health concerns.
  10. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient experiences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard clinical setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  2. Capable of bending and reaching as necessary.
  3. Manual dexterity for tasks requiring finger and hand coordination.
  4. Effective communication skills for patient interaction.
  5. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights up to 100 lbs.
