Position Overview
As a physician, your role encompasses providing comprehensive care to patients, addressing a range of health concerns from chronic conditions to preventive health strategies. Regardless of specialty, the primary focus remains on diagnosing and treating various medical issues. This is achieved through conducting physical examinations, gathering medical histories, performing and interpreting diagnostic assessments, and formulating treatment plans.
Qualifications and Experience: An M.D. from a recognized medical institution is required, along with successful completion of residency training at an accredited healthcare facility.
Licensure and Certification: A valid M.D. or D.O. license from the State of North Carolina is necessary. Board certification in primary care or a related specialty is expected. Additionally, certifications in BCLS and ACLS are mandatory if stress tests are conducted or as dictated by the specialty. Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) for prescription authority is also required. Candidates holding a J1 Visa are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the primary healthcare team to deliver essential medical services to patients within the standards of Internal Medicine.
- Order necessary laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists as needed.
- Evaluate reports, test outcomes, medical histories, and examinations to accurately diagnose patient conditions and recommend treatment strategies.
- Prescribe medications and treatment plans to address identified medical issues.
- Discuss potential side effects of prescribed treatments with patients, ensuring that allergy information is current prior to medication administration.
- Advise patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications that may enhance their health or assist in managing their medical conditions.
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, while adhering to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and safety standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all federal and state health information privacy regulations.
- Document comprehensive, timely, and legible medical records.
Skills and Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficient in identifying potential issues and synthesizing information to draw conclusions. Capable of applying general principles to specific situations to derive sensible solutions. Highly organized with experience in delivering primary care and diagnostic services. Proven track record in prescribing appropriate medications and health regimens. Experience in collaborating with specialists to diagnose and manage patient health conditions. Ability to work effectively within a team of healthcare professionals to ensure positive patient experiences.
Work Environment: Standard clinical setting.
