Job Overview:


This position typically involves 0 hours per week, requiring availability from Sunday to Saturday, including every other weekend and holiday, as well as on-call duties.

SCOPE OF SERVICE:

CUSTOMER:

Under general supervision, the role involves assisting in delivering high-quality food services that cater to the nutritional needs of diverse age groups, from infants to the elderly. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, aiding in the preparation and distribution of meal trays for patients and residents, working in the dishwashing area, and performing various cleaning tasks.


Customers Include:
patients/residents, family members, staff, volunteers, healthcare providers, and childcare personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the principles of care and expected behaviors as outlined in the MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, ensuring all customers are treated in alignment with the organization's Mission and Values.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct, to ensure compliance and demonstrate ethical behavior.
  • Exhibit the Mission and Values of MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center in daily activities.
  • Show proficiency in positive communication, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrate adaptability in completing assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of patient/resident meal trays by ensuring the work area is organized and menu items are ready for service.
  • Ensure a safe and sanitary environment for food service operations and the cleaning of equipment, utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Responsible for cleaning the work area, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and storing them properly after cleaning. Clean dishwashing machines and pots and pans as per established procedures.
  • Engage in activities that promote positive changes within the department and across other departments.
  • Foster effective relationships within the department, with other departments, healthcare providers, and hospital guests.
  • Take an active role in personal and professional development to enhance job performance.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment to enhance the public image of MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
  • Understand and comply with all laws and regulations related to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination necessary to operate food service equipment and serve food efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, maintaining a courteous demeanor in interactions with colleagues, staff, patients/residents, and guests.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work in a clean, well-lit, and ventilated kitchen environment.
  • Stand and walk for the majority of the work shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Engage in balancing, pushing, pulling, and occasional bending and reaching as part of job duties.
  • Adapt to working around moving machinery and variations in temperature and humidity.
  • Handle food in compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Work indoors.
  • Must have near vision acuity and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Adhere to organizational health requirements on an annual basis.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • No prior experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Completion of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
