Job Summary



To provide technical expertise in managing modern "Smart Buildings" and optimizing energy efficiency in campus facilities. The position will be integral to the energy management team, requiring a thorough understanding of various disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

Considerable knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of institutional HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, cooling towers, digital/pneumatic controls, and building automation systems.

Considerable knowledge of commissioning/retro-commissioning procedures, programming DDC controllers with DOS-based line programming, and digital management software.

Some knowledge of integration of Lon Network Controllers with Niagara Java application control engine (JACE), requiring use of Java desktop environment software and graphical interface software.

Some knowledge of BacNet, Lon, and Siemens communications protocols and devices, as well as energy conservation principles.

Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.

Proficient skill in the use of Microsoft Office software and database-related software, with basic network configuration skills.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot with proper test equipment, such as digital meters, pressure gauges, temperature probes, and flow meters, to identify system faults and provide repair solutions.

Demonstrated ability to review HVAC equipment for optimum energy strategies and read and understand various mechanical and electrical drawings, including control drawings, electronic schematics, electrical diagrams, and construction drawings.

Requirements

Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Extensive work experience in the mechanical / controls field or equivalent line of work.

Considerable experience in commercial HVAC controls and energy management systems, including operation, programming, calibration, and repair of electronic building automation systems.

Certification in building automation/controls, Master's Mechanical license, and extensive experience in creating and updating system level graphics for the campus BMS system.
