Senior Industrial Engineer in Warehouse Operations

Overview
This role is pivotal in enhancing the Ryder Continuous Improvement framework throughout the organization by employing advanced methodologies aimed at optimizing both new and established operations. The Senior Industrial Engineer will spearhead initiatives that foster operational excellence through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering solutions, and automation strategies, ultimately enhancing performance metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze data to conduct statistical evaluations. Document and map existing processes while identifying gaps and proposing actionable improvements. Formulate and oversee a comprehensive continuous improvement strategy that delivers value to our clientele.
- Lead and manage continuous improvement projects and engineering initiatives that yield measurable business outcomes. Provide insights and recommendations on future continuous improvement endeavors while supporting operational transitions and automation initiatives.
- Exhibit proficiency in a diverse array of engineering techniques, lean methodologies, and quality assurance standards, while mentoring team members in the application of continuous improvement and lean principles.
- Facilitate and execute Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events, guiding teams through all phases from ideation to implementation and ensuring sustainability of results.
- Regularly report on progress against site objectives, offering insights into inventory and supply chain strategies.
Additional Duties
- Design and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with industry standards.
- Implement a standardized corrective action framework.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.
- Oversee quality assurance functions for new projects or expansions.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to foster professional relationships across all organizational levels.
- Adaptability and self-motivation in a dynamic work environment.
- Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Intermediate skills in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (e.g., SQL).
- Experience in core engineering functions, including labor planning and metrics analysis.
- Familiarity with warehouse design tools and automation solutions.
- Knowledge of material handling systems and transportation design tools.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with three years of related experience.
- Preferred certifications include Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, and ISO/QMS.
