Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Team Leader to provide strategic direction and oversight to a dynamic team of mechanical engineers focused on developing and launching transformative technology in the industrial 3D printing arena. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, innovative problem solver who is passionate about integrating mechanical systems with electronics and software within complex environments.

  • Guide the team in the mechanical design of a production-ready 3D printer, including mechanical and mechatronic subsystems.
  • Oversee each stage of the project development lifecycle and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure timely delivery of finished products.
  • Work closely with leaders in Chemistry, Applications, Electrical, and Software to achieve overall customer objectives and business goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to formulate a comprehensive technology roadmap and strategy.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing multiple products from concept to market.
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members.
  • Strong history of collaboration with large, cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in mechatronics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or Systems Modeling with a focus on product delivery.
  • Experience with phase-gate project management and a history of successful product launches.

Initial Expectations
In the first month, you will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Azul's core technologies, product development strategy, and printer capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand individual expertise across mechanical, electrical, software, materials, and applications domains.
  • Guide the team in making critical design decisions regarding mechanical hardware.

Within three months, you will:
  • Develop a solid understanding of the printer and business model architecture.
  • Drive key analyses and decisions to enhance the product development schedule.
  • Lead the team in delivering manufacturing-ready solutions.

By six months, you will:
  • Contribute positively to the company culture at Azul 3D.
  • Deliver a production-ready design for the current Beta printer.
  • Engage in developing sustainable product development strategies for Azul 3D's future.
