The Lead Engineer for Engine Sensors will spearhead and implement strategic initiatives within the engine sensors domain, ensuring that all projects align with the long-term vision of the organization. This role is essential for overseeing the development, testing, and deployment of cutting-edge sensor technologies, fostering innovation, and enhancing the company's expertise in engine sensor solutions. Additionally, the Lead Engineer will be instrumental in nurturing talent, promoting cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the strategic planning, development, and execution of engine sensor-related projects to align with corporate objectives.
  • Manage the engine sensors division, overseeing budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful project outcomes and departmental effectiveness.
  • Promote innovation in sensor technologies and methodologies, leading the integration of advanced solutions and practices.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring team members and fostering leadership within the sensors division.
  • Act as a key technical authority within the organization, representing the engine sensors division in decision-making and stakeholder discussions.
  • Guide the development of the engine sensor division, establishing technical goals and objectives that resonate with the company's vision and market requirements for sensors, including manifold air pressure, crankcase pressure, knock sensors, and other oil & temperature sensors.
  • Utilize advanced engineering principles, practices, and procedures to manage complex projects, with a focus on sensors, electronics, and software development for automotive applications.
  • Demonstrate expertise in reverse engineering and sensor technology, identifying essential tools and equipment for high-quality sensor development and related tasks.
  • Assess functional risks, develop and implement validation plans for sensor components and materials, and engage in high-stakes projects.
  • Oversee the engineering budget for the engine sensors division, ensuring optimal resource allocation across various projects.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the sensors division, promoting the exploration of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal sales, product management, purchasing, marketing, and external suppliers to ensure that sensor projects meet business, customer, and market needs, delivering high-quality and innovative sensor solutions.
  • Represent the engine sensors division in leadership meetings, providing insights into capabilities, project statuses, and strategic directions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, managing risks and maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety in sensor engineering practices.

EDUCATION: A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of direct experience in engine sensor technology or diagnostics.
  • Fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engines, with prior exposure to the automotive industry strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary (up to 50%).
