THE ROLE
We are in search of a top-tier Manager of Mechanical Engineering to provide strategic direction and leadership to a dynamic team of mechanical engineers as they design and launch groundbreaking technology in the industrial 3D printing sector. This role requires a hands-on, inventive problem solver who possesses leadership experience and a passion for integrating mechanical hardware with electronics and software within complex systems.

  • Guide the team in the mechanical development of a production-ready 3D printer design, including mechanical and mechatronic subsystems.
  • Oversee each stage of the project development process and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure timely delivery of the finished product to customers.
  • Work alongside Chemistry, Applications, Electrical, and Software leaders to meet overall customer expectations and business goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to formulate a technology roadmap and strategic vision.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A minimum of four years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven success in delivering multiple products from initial concept to production.
  • Documented experience in leading small to mid-sized teams.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
  • A track record of successful collaboration with large, cross-functional teams.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT WILL SET YOU APART
Ideal candidates will have:

  • Expertise in mechatronics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or Systems Modeling, including successful product delivery.
  • Experience with phase-gate project management and a history of delivering multiple products to market.

YOUR FIRST SIX MONTHS AT AZUL 3D
Within the first month, you will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Azul's core technologies, technology roadmap, printers, and product development strategy.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional team to understand each member's expertise and skills across mechanical, electrical, software, materials, and applications.
  • Guide the team in making critical design decisions regarding printer mechanical hardware.

Within three months, you will:
  • Develop a strong understanding of the printer and business model architecture.
  • Drive key analyses and decisions to align with the product development schedule.
  • Lead the team in delivering manufacturing-ready solutions.

Within six months, you will:
  • Positively contribute to Azul 3D's company culture.
  • Deliver a production-ready design of the current Beta printer.
  • Engage in the development of sustainable product development strategies for Azul 3D's future.
