Job Summary:

The Scheduling Coordinator performs a variety of duties related to scheduling patients for Radiology and some ancillary services on the main hospital campus. This role is responsible for pre-registering all accounts, coordinating with doctors, staff, nurses, patients, and other medical departments to set up appointments by phone or in-person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-registers all accounts and coordinates with doctors, staff, nurses, patients, and other medical departments to set up appointments by phone or in-person.
  • Performs all duties and functions in relation to the scheduling and pre-registration of radiology exams and procedures.
  • Effectively handles calls per day with minimal or no error.
  • Communicates all relative preparation instructions to patients as necessary.
  • Schedules patient appointments called in by patients, physicians, and physicians' offices.
  • Ensures required laboratory testing is obtained prior to the scheduled appointment.
  • Obtains patient demographic and insurance information, enters into computer system.
  • Updates information in the computer system for return patients.
  • Provides patient with any pre-appointment special instructions.
  • Prepares daily patient schedules for the radiology department and other departments.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicates information to appropriate personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a scheduler and previous professional experience within a medical setting.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal/written) and fluent bilingual competencies (English/Spanish) required.
  • Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Must possess knowledge of radiology exams and procedures as well as working knowledge of health insurance required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS office suite of products.
