Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer PD to join our team at Lifespan. As a key member of our echocardiography department, you will perform and interpret ultrasonic evaluations of the heart, utilizing advanced techniques such as M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and interpret echocardiography procedures, including M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography.
  • Explain echocardiographic procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
  • Provide safety and comfort to all patients in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Assist in teaching cardiology fellows in echocardiography techniques.
  • Schedule cases in the absence of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis of research conducted by physician staff.
  • Maintain level of knowledge of and expertise in professional disciplines and educational methodologies through continuing professional development and independent study.
  • Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to two years of AMA-recognized allied health occupation program or Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of a Cardiac Ultrasound Training Program.
  • Must be eligible to sit for the certificate examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Healthcare environment, such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment, may be exposed to magnetic or high energy fields, and has direct patient contact.
