Cardiac Sonographer

Under the general supervision of the Echocardiography Supervisor, we are seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to perform and interpret ultrasonic evaluations of the heart. This role requires a strong understanding of echocardiography techniques and applications, including M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs and interprets echocardiography examinations
Explains procedures to patients and answers their questions
Provides safety and comfort to patients in accordance with hospital standards
Assists in teaching cardiology fellows
Schedules cases in the absence of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer
Participates in data collection and analysis of research conducted by physician staff
Requirements:
Equivalent to two years of AMA-recognized allied health occupation program or Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of a Cardiac Ultrasound Training Program
Eligible to sit for the certificate examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span
Work Environment:
This role is based in a healthcare environment, such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. The successful candidate will work with medical equipment and may be exposed to magnetic or high energy fields. Direct patient contact is required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This role has no supervisory responsibility.
