Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Connecticut Children's. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of newborns, including histories and examinations, to identify level of illness severity.
  • Present thoughtful assessments to supervising physicians and work towards prescribing necessary care plans.
  • Perform appropriate procedures under guidance and know when to seek assistance.
  • Apply medical knowledge to common diagnoses in the department and expand clinical knowledge through independent learning and critical reading of medical literature.
  • Provide basic evaluation for common diagnoses and recommend broad evaluation based on unfocused differential diagnosis.
  • Report results of diagnostic studies and identify clinically significant results with guidance.
  • Gather patient information using a template and adapt it as necessary to prioritize pertinent positives and negatives.
  • Present clinical facts to preceptors, supervising physicians, and care teams to generate unfocused differential diagnoses.
  • Participate in the creation of patient management plans and discuss them with patients and families.
  • Attend deliveries with preceptors until independence in neonatal resuscitation is established.
  • Perform core procedures under guidance and seek additional training as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in nursing or physician assistant program accredited by a national certifying body.
  • Current licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Connecticut or New York.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, communication, and interpersonal skills.
