Volunteer Program Manager

The Downtown Women's Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Volunteer Manager to lead our volunteer program and promote a culture of volunteerism throughout the agency. This is a full-time, exempt position that requires a combination of remote and on-site work at our Downtown LA office.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit and manage volunteers to support DWC's program operations, including digital and in-person outreach.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain volunteers, including training and recognition programs.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer opportunities and ensure effective communication and coordination with volunteers.
- Lead monthly volunteer trainings and create program materials to educate volunteers on DWC's approach to service provision.
- Coordinate with the Communications team to promote volunteer opportunities and celebrate our volunteer community.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment for large-scale events and initiatives, such as the Homeless Count and Every Woman Gala.
- Develop and maintain relationships with DWC's volunteer community through volunteer appreciation events and campaigns.
- BA/BS or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two years of managing volunteers and/or staff preferred.
- Hands-on experience in program development and coordination of volunteer programs.
- Proficiency with donor and volunteer databases preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building meaningful relationships in the workplace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to tailor communication style based on audience.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Exceptional project management skills, including communicating expectations, meeting deadlines, and coordinating across departments.
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills; ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Demonstrated record as a successful team player, including the ability to develop and maintain a goal-oriented, positive attitude throughout the organization.
- Knowledge of issues related to homelessness and compassion and understanding of the Center's unique approach to service provision.
- Commitment to racial equity and social justice; recognition of the role of race, gender, and other identities in contributing to homelessness and inequity.
- Commitment to DWC's mission to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.
