Job Title: Extension Program Coordinator Horticulture Volunteer and Outreach Jefferson County

This is a unique opportunity to join the team at Colorado State University as an Extension Program Coordinator for Horticulture Volunteer and Outreach in Jefferson County.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will oversee the coordination of all aspects of the Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) program and the administrative assistance and volunteer coordination for the Native Plant Master (NPM) program in Jefferson County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, strengthen, and grow the County CMG and NPM program through coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, and deployment, as well as establishing project teams and coordinating volunteer project managers.
  • Align processes within CMG and NPM programs to enhance the volunteer experience and meeting of shared goals, such as volunteer management systems, outreach, and resource sharing.
  • Provide guidance and support for volunteers and volunteer projects in the community, including educating, managing, and supporting volunteers in the use of a volunteer database.
  • Organize continuing education opportunities for Extension volunteers and develop strong working relationships and coordinate resources and programs with other Colorado State University and Extension staff, educational institutions, non-profits, business, and other county departments and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Completed bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in volunteer management or a closely related field.
  • Ability to manage time and competing priorities to meet deadlines and support constituents well.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in program efforts.
  • Ability to communicate through teaching, public speaking/presentation, and writing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people as individuals and in groups, ability to forge equitable and successful partnerships with community members, professionals, and organizations.
  • Demonstrated use of technology, including experience with database management and marketing creation.
  • Experience building marketing materials to educate, recruit, and inform broad audiences.
  • Completion of Colorado Master Gardener and Native Plant Master training or willingness to obtain training.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completed master's degree.
  • Knowledge or experience working with Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, or Native Plant Master, or similar community education programs.
