Spacecraft Power Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Spacecraft Power Systems Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Space Exploration Sector, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing reliable spacecraft power systems for our space sector and broader space community.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development of power systems for space flight missions, including conceptual design studies and mission proposals.
- Develop subsystem and hardware component requirements, test plans, and perform requirements verification.
- Estimate battery capacities, solar array sizes, and predict system performance.
- Lead power system integration and test onto spacecraft, and support launch and flight operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7-15 years of experience developing spacecraft power systems.
- Team leadership positions.
- Familiarity with common spacecraft power system topologies.
- Skilled in solar array and battery performance prediction, sizing, and system energy balance.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing primary power regulation or distribution hardware.
- Experience with primary battery technologies.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary electronics development teams.
- Experience with alternative spacecraft power sources such as nuclear sources.
