Faculty Position: Medical/Surgical Nursing Educator

Position Overview:
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Nursing Instructor specializing in Medical/Surgical at De Anza College. This opportunity is part of our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Division Dean for Biological and Health Sciences, the selected candidate will:
- Teach courses in the Nursing program tailored for Associate Degree Nursing students, addressing diverse learning styles.
- Integrate cross-cultural perspectives into both theoretical and practical nursing education.
- Engage in curriculum development and assessment, ensuring inclusivity and multicultural relevance.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing faculty and clinical staff in various healthcare settings.
- Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to student mentoring and advising initiatives.
General Faculty Duties:
All faculty members are expected to:
- Develop and assess curricula.
- Maintain regular office hours for student support.
- Attend departmental and divisional meetings.
- Pursue ongoing professional development.
- Serve on college committees and engage in extracurricular activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
- Master's degree in nursing or a Bachelor's degree in nursing combined with a Master's in health education or health science.
- Current active Registered Nurse license in California.
- Recent direct patient care experience in relevant nursing fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as an instructor in nursing programs.
- Familiarity with simulation and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Experience in creating inclusive and culturally responsive teaching strategies.
- Active participation in professional nursing organizations.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of nursing responsibilities.
