Patient Services Coordinator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Assistant to join our team at Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare. As a Patient Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the practice operations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service to patients, responding to general inquiries and relaying information about the Medical Center.
- Schedule patient appointments, perform data entry of patient demographic information, and verify insurance information.
- Manage high-volume telephone calls, generating encounters and routing to providers for review and follow-up.
- Perform pre-registration and confirmation of patient appointments prior to date of service.
- Check in patients, verify insurance, collect and scan identification and insurance cards.
- Manage referral work queues, scheduling patient appointments from active referrals and attaching referrals to appointments.
- Scan incoming medical records to patient's MRN and address In Basket messages daily.
- Collect patient co-payments, form fees, and outstanding balances, performing simple arithmetic calculations and reconciling all monies collected.
- Assist with scheduling diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patients receive appropriate information regarding scheduled tests and procedures.
- Obtain referrals and preauthorization for procedures by calling insurance companies or generating electronic requests.
Requirements:
- High School or GED equivalency
- 6 months of related experience
- Customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
- Ability to perform non-complex arithmetic calculations
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and phone volume simultaneously
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and the like.
Conditions of Employment:
