Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling work for Patient Service Assistants, participating in orientation and training of new employees, and serving as a resource to all department staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule work for Patient Service Assistants
  • Participate in orientation and training of new employees
  • Serve as a resource to all department staff
  • Provide support for resident physicians
  • Maintain multifaceted computerized scheduling and billing system
  • Schedule patient appointments and perform pre-registration duties
  • Ensure completeness of physician charge sheets and verify patient insurance information
  • Code lab requisitions with necessary patient data for proper processing and charging of lab work
  • Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls
  • Respond to general inquiries and provide customer service to patients
  • Assume responsibility for all Part A, Invision, and Part B billing functions in SMS Signature within 24 hours from date of service
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of office operations
  • Assist in preparing and administering office accounts and records
  • Under supervision of the manager, assume responsibility for front desk staffing issues and ensure adequate and appropriate staffing is maintained
  • Under supervision of the manager, train and orient new employees and monitor their progress
  • Provide feedback for and assist in completion of employee performance management evaluations
  • Maintain detailed files of physicians' licensures and ensure timely renewal to avoid expiration
  • Maintain physician credentialing with hospitals and insurance companies
  • Prepare request for release of medical records and collect appropriate fees
Requirements
  • High School or GED equivalency
  • 3 years' directly related experience
  • Knowledge of all HMO's, PPO's, Medicare, BC/BS, and commercial restrictions
  • Working knowledge of capitated verses fee for service restrictions
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD9 codes and medical terminology
  • Skill in using computerized medical record system, scheduling, registration, billing, and personal productivity applications
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Skill in performing non-complex arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Working Conditions

This role will be working in a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and the like.

Pay Range

$18.86 - $28.30
