Strategic Retail Sales Director for a CPG Industry Leader

We are seeking an experienced Sales Director with a proven track record of success working with large retailers, driving growth and maximizing SKU listings across all organic platforms. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the household, kitchen, and home goods categories, and will develop clear sales strategies that meet each retailer's needs and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster strong relationships with big box retailers, including Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Costco, and regional retail accounts, to generate business within each account.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategy plans that maximize SKU listings across all organic platforms.
  • Become the expert on assigned accounts, understanding the retailer's needs, strategies, and objectives to drive business growth.
  • Utilize Category Management and Fact Based Selling concepts in every account to inform sales decisions.
  • Manage merchant relationships to effectively complete administrative tasks, promotion programs, resets, or projects necessary.
  • Collaborate with merchants and executive teams to identify and evaluate new product ideas.
  • Target specific prospect accounts for conversion, execute sales action plans, understand account needs, develop relationships, and assist in securing new business.
  • Create and deliver retailer-specific presentations for PLR, Promotions, Mid-Season updates, etc.
  • Build and closely manage relationships with customers at the buyer level and beyond to create or enhance partnerships.
  • Provide Division VP with regular summaries of current total POS performance across assigned accounts and future sales forecasts.
Requirements:
  • At least 8+ years of experience in product marketing and account management, with digital marketing preferred.
  • Team building and leadership experience required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational abilities, including time and resource management.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline required.
  • Product Marketing: 8+ years (Required).
  • Retail Field Sales: 8+ years (Required).
  • A minimum of 2-4 years work experience in CPG industry is preferred.
  • Experience working with syndicated data or category management preferred.
Essential Skills:
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to learn and use syndicated data to forecast trends and projections and analyze the effectiveness of promotional activity.
  • Strong customer focus and relationship building with merchants.
  • Teamwork approach within the organization to accomplish goals.
  • Strong presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and customer organizations.
  • Intermediate to advance PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations, outlook).
  • Approximately 10% travel required.
  • Some nights and weekend work might be required during peak season.

Salary estimate: $120,000 - $180,000 per year.
