Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sales Director to join our team at Journal Hotels.

About the Role:

The Strategic Sales Director will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that meet or exceed defined hotel sales budgets. This role requires a strong ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management to drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Team Management: Interview, select, train, schedule, mentor, and support the sales team to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
  • Market Analysis: Develop strategic plans to develop all group, business travel, FIT, and catering business segments, identifying opportunities to increase revenue and market share.
  • Customer Relationships: Qualify customer business requirements and create offers that increase revenue and market share for the hotel, utilizing professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the achievement of objectives for the sales team and take appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the annual budget.
  • Account Development: Employ personal sales efforts to achieve optimal revenue from key accounts, articulating and leveraging the benefits of the hotel to close sales opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 15+ years of previous hotel sales experience, with 10+ years as a hotel Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong English communication skills (speak, read, write), ability to use automated sales and catering systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office + Opera programs.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
