POSITION SUMMARY: BorgWarner Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Advanced Propulsion Systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and refine control strategies, architectures, and algorithms for propulsion system management.
  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, and validate control algorithms for propulsion management systems, particularly in connected and automated vehicles.
  • Create and test machine learning and data analytics algorithms tailored for mobility systems.
  • Conduct offline simulations, rapid prototyping, and hardware-in-the-loop testing, including real-world driving assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for algorithms and control systems, including calibration protocols.
  • Assist in the initial calibration of algorithms and specify necessary sensor and actuator requirements.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of components, ensuring alignment with system performance criteria.
  • Guide team members in the coding and implementation of algorithms, both internally and with external partners.
  • Support system-level integration, testing, and data analysis.
  • Innovate and implement new testing procedures and concepts as required.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the propulsion management sector.
  • Contribute to technical papers and present findings at industry conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, accompanied by a minimum of 48 months of relevant experience. Essential experience includes:

  • Expertise in designing, implementing, debugging, and calibrating complex control algorithms for propulsion systems.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and data analytics algorithm development.
  • Experience with the Matlab-Simulink-State flow toolchain for modeling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with rapid-prototyping tools for control system evaluation.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques in microprocessor-based control systems.
  • Experience with electric vehicle systems and related infrastructure.
