Job Description

General Motors is seeking a highly skilled System Calibration Engineer to join our Global Propulsion Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the design of our engines exceeds customer expectations in terms of quality, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare development engines for testing, ensuring both hardware and calibration are test-ready.
  • Create, track, and report on calibration testing progress and issues.
  • Support Durability/Validation teams with proven calibrations as appropriate.
  • Develop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration development.
  • Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing.
  • Develop and implement standard work processes and procedures globally.
  • Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency.
  • Support math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math-based models and data analysis.
  • Train, mentor, and develop new engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • 5+ years of engine-related experience.
  • Engine calibration experience.
  • Experience with engine dyno setup & testing.
  • Demonstrated drive for results.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources, and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results.
  • Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software.
  • Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment.
  • Familiarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE).
