Job Description

Patterson-UTI Drilling is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Equipment and Yard Supervisor. This position is a critical part of our operations team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of our equipment and yard operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Management: Ensure all equipment transactions within the region are completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Inventory Planning: Implement processes and procedures to facilitate rig and yard inventory planning, maintaining accurate and current equipment status, location, and availability.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and report on material and equipment records in Oracle EBS.
  • Collaboration: Initiate collaborative efforts by sharing key learnings, effective processes, and best practices with peers at the regional and company level.
  • Compliance: Track and report on compliance with equipment certification requirements.
  • Safety: Ensure safe operation, maintenance, and inspection of company-owned/operated equipment in the yard in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Yard Maintenance: Maintain the yard work site with a clean and orderly appearance at all times in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Equipment Storage: Ensure all equipment stored in the yard is in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Inspections: Conduct a comprehensive shop, yard, and office inspection and audit monthly, ensuring the timely correction of all non-conformities.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure that processes and procedures are implemented and revised as necessary to maintain inventory control at all times of all capital and non-capital assets.
  • Rig and Yard Inventories: Create and conduct rig and yard inventories for the region, validating and reconciling material both physically and within the systems in accordance with company policies, procedures, and within designated timeframes.
  • Drill Pipe Management: Initiate the billing process for drill pipe lost or downgraded as required.
  • Tubular Inventory: Maintain both the physical and electronic system counts for tubular inventory for the regions as movement occurs.
Requirements:
  • Safety: Safely navigate drilling rig work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather).
  • Travel: Travel to visit drilling rig work sites and support business units; occasionally requires extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area.
  • Lifting: Lift and carry 20 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Physical Demands: Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas.
  • Tools and Equipment: Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to demonstrate a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools.
  • Visual Acuity: Use vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch for, and report ongoing work activities to co-workers and third parties.
  • Listening: Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems.
  • Memory: Accurately recall of information over short and long-term memory.
  • Spatial Awareness: Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects.
  • Alertness: Remain alert and focused during occasional periods of extended work hours.
  • Communication: Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to promptly give and follow directions when working with others.
  • Emergency Response: Immediately respond to emergency situations.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
  • Computer Skills: Work in an office environment including entering and managing data related to EAM processes and appropriate metrics into electronic databases (e.g. computer workstation).
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency with written and oral communication.
  • Computer Literacy: Must possess intermediate to advanced level computer skills with a proven ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications, e.g. MS Word, Power Point, Project, Visio, Excel etc. and other MS software applications to drive efficiency in productivity.
  • Inventory Management: Possess knowledge and experience in inventory management.
  • Data Entry: Must be able to accurately enter and manage data related to EAM processes and report on appropriate metrics based on information maintained within the database (e.g. computer workstation).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must have good interpersonal and communication skills including ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma, certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2+ years oil field equipment and capable of identifying different assets associated to the maintenance repair facilities.
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to drive a company vehicle and meet the requirements of the company vehicle use agreement and driving policy.
  • Location: Live within a 2-hour driving distance to the yard or be willing to relocate to the assigned area.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in oil field services or a related industry.
  • Oracle EAM Experience: 2+ years working experience in Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or other Oracle Applications is preferred.
  • Managerial Experience: Previous managerial experience.
  • Asset Management Experience: Previous work experience in a maintenance and/or asset management system.
  • Purchasing and Shipping Experience: Previous work experience in purchasing or shipping and receiving.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills is essential.
