Position Summary

The Collections Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating effective communication and coordination with insurance providers and clients to maximize benefits for our clients. You will cultivate relationships with insurance carriers and gather precise, detailed insurance benefit information through phone and online interactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze insurance policy data to ensure accurate claim processing and payment.
  • Utilize the billing system accurately.
  • Prepare and submit claims as necessary.
  • Timely submission of corrected claims when required.
  • Conduct weekly follow-ups on claims to ensure timely receipt.
  • Prepare documentation for submission to insurance companies as needed.
  • Ensure prompt follow-up on unprocessed claims.
  • Develop and submit appeals with necessary supporting documentation.
  • Engage with clients to collect outstanding account balances and manage statement processing.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient care and business operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare billing or insurance verification.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance terminology, including out-of-network vs. in-network benefits, coinsurance, co-pays, and deductibles, along with general billing practices.
  • Coding/Billing Certificate from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health treatment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SUD, IOP, and Mental Health programs.
  • Proficiency in EMR and billing software programs is required.
  • Experience with Medics software is a plus.
