Lift Off Distribution is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are safe and in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain all company vehicles to a safe standard, including troubleshooting and repairing non-diesel and diesel vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, including updating and maintaining fleet software.
- Report regularly on the status of vehicle maintenance to the Fleet Manager.
- Perform safety and service inspections of vehicles, ensuring that unsafe vehicles are not released for use.
- Manage DVIR issues and paperwork, compliant with DOT standards.
- Transport vehicles to shops and buildings, and coordinate vehicle tows when necessary.
- Evaluate downtime to ensure vehicles are returned to service expeditiously and are safe for use.
- Submit and maintain monthly reports on parts expenditures.
- Coordinate accident repair and accident reporting with the Fleet Manager.
- Collect data regarding expense of vehicle repair, and coordinate payment of outside vendors in conjunction with the insurance company.
- Maintain the fleet maintenance budget layout, as established by the Fleet Manager.
- Maintain a clean and serviceable shop, ensuring that all shop equipment is in good working condition.
- Ensure that the shop is properly equipped, and that all special tools and equipment needed to service vehicles are on hand and properly maintained.
- Determine grease, oil, and lubricant requirements to support the fleet.
- Ensure proper disposal of all waste generated by the shop.
- Ensure that Sales has adequate fluids in the morning for pre-trip and post-trip inspections, by taking weekly inventory.
