Job Overview

A CDL/VIN Specialist is a critical role within the State of Montana's Motor Vehicle Division. As a public-facing position, this individual will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to Montana citizens, ensuring their safety and well-being through the issuance of identification documents and driver's licenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist customers, answering questions and addressing concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Issue ID cards, driver's licenses, and commercial driver's licenses, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Oversee the testing of licenses, confirming proper identification documents and determining when additional documentation is required.
  • Operate multiple software programs, requiring strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Work outdoors in inclement weather and travel to other exam stations as needed, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience working with computerized data systems.
  • One year customer service experience.
  • One year of cash handling experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) for testing and training purposes, within the first year.
