Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Development Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing our development functions, including fundraising planning, systems, and infrastructure. This is a critical role that will play a key part in achieving our organizational goals and advancing our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including strategies for securing grants, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with foundation funders, individual donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals.
  • Develop and maintain a donor database and track progress and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to support fundraising efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in securing grants and individual donations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate our mission and goals to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with donor databases and tracking progress and deliverables.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, with a preference for bilingual or multilingual candidates.

Autonomy and Decision-Making

The Development Manager will have the autonomy to make decisions and take actions to achieve our fundraising goals, while also being accountable to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and independent individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires occasional driving throughout San Diego County, with a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license. The successful candidate will also be required to lift up to 25 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods.
