About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Aeronautical Engineer Sr. to join our Central Engineering Missile Aerodynamics team at Lockheed Martin. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support and direction to various missile programs, focusing on the modeling and simulation of hypersonic flight vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools to design and analyze flight vehicles, performing basic CAD geometry manipulation, meshing, and post-processing results.
  • Have a strong understanding of various fluid flow phenomena, including compressibility, turbulence, and heat transfer.
  • Perform analyses related to missile launch vehicle systems, re-entry bodies, and satellites using various modeling and simulation methods and analytical techniques.
  • Author technical memos and provide recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, and present analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel.
Requirements
  • Professional work experience in thermophysics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, and computer programming.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, or experimentation of high-speed aerodynamics.
  • Thermal analysis experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience in leading or supervising research activities.
  • Must have at least an Interim Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Experience or a strong educational background in hypersonic aerodynamics, gas dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming (C/C++, Matlab, Python).
  • Experience with solvers used by NASA for entry vehicles, e.g., FUN3D, Loci/CHEM.
  • Prior experience developing and analyzing hypersonic thermochemically reacting flow fields.
  • Strong mathematical and analytic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
