Job Description

At Blue Origin, we are seeking a highly skilled Sr Systems Engineer to join our team of experts in the development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. As a key member of our Engines business unit, you will play a critical role in the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Risk Management: Develop and implement risk-informed decision-making processes across the organization to drive ongoing strategic program planning.
  • Manage Risks and Opportunities: Manage risks and opportunities at the program and business unit level, ensuring that our team is equipped to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to share best practices and ensure that our risk process provides high value to our teams.
  • Develop and Implement Risk Management Tools: Develop and implement effective risk management tools and software to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct Risk and Opportunity Management Training: Conduct regular risk and opportunity management training sessions for engineering and program management teams to enhance their understanding and proficiency in these areas.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: A bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant technical field is required.
  • 10+ Years of Experience: 10+ years of system development/integration experience, preferably in aerospace or complicated technical systems, including some aspect of new product development.
  • Expertise in Risk Management: Expertise in risk management standards, methodologies, and state-of-the-art tools is required.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify potential risks and opportunities, and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead discussions, mentor team members, and engage with stakeholders at various levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Liquid Rocket Engine Experience: Experience with liquid rocket engine or propulsion system development is preferred.
  • Strong Mechanical or Fluids Systems Design or Analysis Fundamentals: Strong mechanical or fluids systems design or analysis fundamentals are preferred.
  • Experience with Program or Project Management: Experience with program or project management is preferred.
