As a Thermal Systems Engineer, you will engage in both preliminary and detailed thermal evaluations of missile components, subsystems, and integrated systems.

Your role will involve comprehensive modeling of the entire missile system, including ground systems, throughout its lifecycle using standardized methodologies and tools such as NX, SindaFluent, and Thermal Desktop.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting technical documentation and recommendations to support peer and customer reviews.
  • Presenting analysis results to design teams, customer representatives, and program personnel during technical meetings and formal design evaluations.
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and implementing program requirements.
  • Providing thermal engineering support for Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing.
  • Collaborating with various engineering disciplines in a dynamic environment to develop efficient solutions that meet thermal control requirements while aligning with manufacturing and quality objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in areas such as Thermophysics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Aerodynamics.
  • Familiarity with thermal analysis tools including NX, Thermal Desktop, and SINDA.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering principles.
  • US Citizenship is required for security clearance.
Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Experience:
  • 3+ years in thermophysics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, propulsion, computational fluid dynamics, and programming.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Active Secret or higher security clearance from the Department of Defense or other agencies.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; US Citizenship is mandatory for consideration.

Work Schedule: Lockheed Martin supports various flexible work schedules, including part-time remote work options.

Work Environment:
