Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone South Shore Neurologic Associates in Islip. The successful candidate will provide exceptional front desk support for clinical intake operations, ensuring a seamless patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reception assistance, including greeting patients, answering calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
  • Schedule routine appointments, follow-ups, and procedures, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Collect and complete patient-related documents, including demographic information and insurance details.
  • Assist patients in enrolling in Patient Secure, if necessary, and verify demographic information on subsequent visits.
  • Responsible for daily confirmation of patient appointments and maintaining accurate records.
  • May be responsible for pre-authorizations and certifications, excluding surgical procedures.
  • Ensure accurate procedure and diagnosis coding in the pre-certification and verification process.
  • Assist patients with insurance coverage questions and refer to the business office as needed.
  • Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including typing routine materials and maintaining files.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database, and internet applications.
  • Light accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months of experience in a physician practice office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EPIC Ambulatory.
